Exercising her democratic right

Shanaynay was excited about Election Day last Saturday.  Despite not being enrolled to vote, that didn't stop her going to her local polling station to soak up the atmosphere

And since it was a beautiful sunny day it gave her the opportunity to wear her new skirt, singlet, and bag combo. Shanaynay thinks it's always important to look good when doing something as important as watching other people vote.

A little trip

Shanaynay went on a little trip to Dunedin with her Aunty Jess.  Shanaynay was obviously very excited about this as it's well known that Dunedin has a fabulous fashion scene.

Shanaynay thought it was particularly important to look stylish (and warm) while on her weekend jaunt so chose a stunning star motif swing coat with sash belt for her weekend attire. Here she is enjoying the delights of the Wellington Air New Zealand Koru Lounge in anticipation of her flight:

And preparing for take-off:

Shanaynay gathers new friends wherever she goes.  Here she is making friends with the cabin crew:

And the pilot might have developed a bit of a crush on her too.....can you blame him...?

While in Dunedin Shanaynay got to sample many of the delights on offer, including a visit to her namesake's Alma Mater.....

A wee perusal of all the action at the Cadbury factory.....

An exhausting trek up Baldwin Street (it got a bit hot in her swing coat, but Shanaynay is a slave to looking good....)

As well as (of course) visiting some of the wonderful fashion stores on offer....including Dada.....

.....and Tamsin Cooper

All this shopping is very difficult when you're only about 50cm tall.......

And of course, a fashion visit to Dunedin wouldn't be complete without a visit to the historic Dunedin Railway Station which gets turned into a runway each year for Dunedin fashion week.  Shanaynay is wondering whether she might be called up to model at next year's event......

A very lucky girl......and minor celebrities

Shanaynay was a very lucky girl.  She has some people on the 'inside' who had tickets to the RWC final who offered her the opportunity to come along.  Naturally she said yes.  Only because it would mean a new supporters outfit of course. Her favourite player before the match was Piri Weepu.  Naturally.

She was very excited about being part of the atmosphere of the final, but she tried not to let that get the better of her.

And she may just have won the affections of a certain One News roving reporter.  I think there may be someone new crushing on Shanaynay.  She'll just add him to the list.

Visitors

Shanaynay is incredibly social and loves to have visitors.  She was fortunate enough to have a friend come to visit the other day, courtesy of one of the Kapiti Coast's finest assets, Tessa.  Shanaynay was particularly jealous of her friend's fairy wings.....and the satin with lace trim skirt.  Very John Galliano she thought....

The Rugby

Shanaynay was excited about going to the All Blacks vs Canada match at the Wellington Regional Stadium for the RWC.  She decided to dress to support both the teams.  And had a beer at The Occidental to calm her down a little.

Shanaynay had never been to the Stadium before so was super excited to walk the concourse.

Shanyany decided to have another drink at the game.....this left her looking a little drunk...

Pretty soon she was making friends with all the Canadian supporters around her

Shanaynay was pretty pleased with her choice of fleece lined vest as it was a bit overcast.

All in all it was an awesome day out for Shanaynay, her first foray into rugby and she's a convert.  Although was a little tired by the end of it.

FWD

Shanaynay was excited about attending her first Friday Wine Day.  She thought her new singlet and skirt combo would be perfect for the sunny weather in the Level 14 tearoom.  Plus she loved how it made her look slender through the torso.

The end of one era.....and the start of another

So, we lost our Shanaynay today.  Truly a sad moment for many of us.  Although she seemed happy with her vodka soaked raspberry bubbles from Nikau Cafe

However, as a parting gift, we have been left a new replacement Shanaynay.  She's much smaller and quieter than the original Shanaynay.  And like all the best women, she was sourced over the internet.

To honour the memory of the original Shanaynay, we have set up this blog to document the life and times of the Shanaynay Golly as she experiments with fashion in Wellington.  Here's an original photo of her.  No doubt she will be looking very different over the coming months.....
